Hi everyone, excited to start off the week with a cool partnership announcement! Terra has partnered with Nexo, the leading cryptocurrency lending platform, to offer new decentralized financial products like instant loans and interest programs denominated in the Terra stablecoin. That means Terra holders will soon be able to use Terra as collateral for Nexo’s instant credit lines, or enjoy high interest rates of up to 8% on their Terra holdings. We also plan to top Nexo’s 8% interest rate with additional returns, funded by Terra’s seigniorage model. Starting off the week with some exciting news! We have secured a significant investment from $1.5 billion US hedge fund Ulysses Capital. They were extremely impressed with how well our payment service is doing in Korea (100k users in 10 days!), and we are excited to have them on board. Korean press has caught wind of it, and we are sharing a quote from Ulysses for our global fans: “Terra has already proven that it can deliver on its vision to build an open financial platform through its successful launch of a payment service in Korea. Dear Terrans, many have been asking to share our thoughts on Facebook’s Libra, so here it is! Facebook published its mission for Libra, and it sounds very similar to the one we set forth to accomplish a year ago — build a stable and widely adopted global currency and an open financial system. In that light, we see Libra as a strong validation for the innovation crypto can bring. And we were delighted to see so many similarities in their token design. But one critical aspect that Libra lacks is what we consider to be Terra’s key competitive advantage relative to fiat: seigniorage. We’ve figured out a growth hack and predict that it will be expensive for Libra to create strong user incentives without seigniorage. Dear Terrans, today, we announce a breakthrough partnership with Korean mobile payment service CHAI, which is currently available on TMON — one of Terra’s key partners and one of the largest eCommerce platforms in Korea. It’s the perfect match; CHAI provides the infrastructure of a payment gateway to offer secure transactions and convenient settlements with merchants, and by adding Terra’s blockchain technology, we can start rebuilding the payment stack on the blockchain to simplify the legacy payment system. Similar to PayPal, you can download the CHAI app, add your bank account, and start using it on TMON. Service is currently limited to those who have a Korean phone number and bank account, but we hope to share more exciting news for our global fans soon. Hi Terrans, we just announced a partnership with Kakao Mobility, which operates the largest ride-hailing platform in Korea and is part of the country’s Internet giant Kakao.
