As proposed on Terra Agora discussion forums in November, Terra blockchain switched to Columbus-4.1 on January 1, 2021. This “soft fork” upgrade was executed at blockheight 1200000 (approximately Fri Jan 01 2021 09:00:00 GMT+0000 (UTC) ). Why was this upgrade required? The rationale for this intermediary update is to better support Terra smart contracts and Dapps that are scheduled to ship in 2021, including: 1) Inclusion of a new CosmWasm contract caching layer, which enhances contract read and write performance on the Terra blockchain by 100x. 2) CosmWasm logging whitelist feature, increase in CosmWasm message size limit and upgrades in WASM staking querier 3) Significantly improve support for more complicated contracts like bLuna and Anchor. More details here: Following the network upgrade, exchanges may have to suspend LUNA withdrawals and deposits until they switch to Columbus 4.1. We appreciate your patience and apologise for any inconvenience this transition may cause.
